Grimm Reviews – “The Cat and the Mouse in Partnership”

“The Cat and the Mouse in Partnership”

A cat and mouse were friends and decided to live together. They wanted to put some food away for the winter, so they bought a pot of fat. For some reason, they didn’t want to keep it at home, so they hid it under the altar in the church so nobody would steal it.

But soon the cat wanted to taste it, so he told the mouse his cousin had had a son and had asked the cat to stand as god-father. So the cat went to the church and licked the fat off the top of the pot. When the mouse asked what they had named the kitten, he said, “Top-off.”

Soon the cat wanted another taste, so he told the same lie and he ate half the pot. When the mouse again asked what they named the kitten, he said, “Half-gone.”

Before long, the cat wanted more, so again he told the same lie and ate the rest of the pot. He then told the mouse they had named the kitten “All-gone.”

When winter came, they went to get their pot of fat, and the mouse found out the cat had already eaten it. He then ate the mouse.

Wow, the cat ate the mouse. I didn’t see that one coming.

And just in case you are wondering, I didn’t plan this out to be posted the day before the election.  It just happened that way.  Besides, I’m sure if you looked hard enough, you could find all sorts of political meanings in these tales.
